What does it mean to 'Support Raise responsibly'?

Two important resources regarding areas of responsibility are safeguarding and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice. The Bible is clear that we are to love our neighbour as ourselves and to protect the vulnerable. As those working in ministry, or preparing for ministry, you’re required to do your bit to protect the most vulnerable as well as yourself.

Safeguarding

In the application form we ask whether you have the correct safeguarding training, policy and DBS check in place. Not only is this of the upmost importance to ensure the protection of the most vulnerable, the correct training can also help you avoid situations which can put you at risk, for example being falsely accused of inappropriate or illegal behaviour.

Taking their name from the mandate in Proverbs 31:8 to ‘speak out on behalf of the voiceless, and for the rights of all who are vulnerable’ (NIV), www.thirtyoneeight.org are an independent Christian safeguarding charity offering organisations a complete safeguarding solution. We advise that you look at their website and the tools they offer to ensure you’re operating responsibly and keeping up to date with safeguarding requirements.

The Fundraising Regulator and behaviour when Support Raising

As a charity we’re signed up to the Fundraising Regulator who are set up to ensure the public can support causes with complete trust and confidence. The Code of Fundraising Practice is the key document that all fundraisers in the UK need to follow. As we are a charity and the funds you raise for your support are given to Stewardship, this includes you. To ensure you’re Support Raising appropriately, please familiarise yourself with Section 1 of the code; ‘Behaviour when fundraising’.
