Why UK Poverty and Debt?
As Christians it’s our duty and our privilege to give to those in need.
The Bible mentions poverty 300 times and it's still a contemporary issue. Sadly there are so many struggling financially right on our doorsteps. Homelessness, job loss and a strain to even afford the basics are affecting millions of people in Britain. We can support a whole range of activities, be it helping people to get off the streets and into housing, training people with new skills to get into workplaces, or providing essentials at food banks for families and individuals who are desperate for help.
The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.
Proverbs 29:7
Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker
Proverbs 17:5
If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
1 John 3:17

The concept of downsizing so that others might upgrade is biblical, beautiful...and nearly unheard of.

I truly believe that when the rich meet the poor, riches will have no meaning. And when the rich meet the poor, we will see poverty come to an end.
