Partner profileSpear is a 6 week pre-employment training course for 16-24 year olds not in education, employment or training (NEETS) from West London’s most deprived neighbourhoods. Spear aims to empower these young people to play meaningful roles in the community, move out of a cycle of dependency on benefits, and ultimately help to combat unemployment. In addition to addressing issues such as the victim mentality, casual register and the consistent use of the 'child voice', students also receive interview training, help with writing their CV's, and a chance to achieve two qualifications and complete one weeks work experience in their chosen field. Over 80% of Spear graduates are still in education and/or employment one year after completing the course.
