Why Church Planting?

To better serve communities across the UK, the Church must thrive and multiply.

Some studies suggest the church is shrinking. However when you look at the reality, faithful churches are expanding, breaking new ground and pioneering new approaches to church. It’s a challenging and rewarding mission, made possible by charities partnering with church leaders to lead strong congregations. There’s no one size fits all solution. Church can take many forms, from a large group in a church building to a few gathered around the dinner table, and we can help all of them to flourish.

Ric Thorpe, Bishop of Islington and the Bishop of London's Adviser on Church Planting, tells us why he's passionate about planting new churches. Watch the video to find out more.
