Can we claim Gift Aid on the payments we receive from Stewardship?
Stewardship Partner Account holders cannot claim Gift Aid on any payments received from Stewardship because we will have already claimed it, where eligible. When requested by the giver, we add an equivalent amount, or proportion, of the Gift Aid claimed to the total payment that you receive from us.
Stewardship is a donor advised fund charity, where our givers (your supporters) make eligible gifts to Stewardship and we claim the Gift Aid. Other than for really large gifts, we finance the value of Gift Aid claims upfront so that it can increase the value of the grants you receive ‘instantly’*.
All payments made to your church or charity from Stewardship are charitable grants, and must not be subject to a further Gift Aid claim. In your bookkeeping, we would advise that you record grants received from Stewardship as charitable grant payments in your donation and legacies section.
*With our Instant Gift Aid feature, the value of any eligible Gift Aid is added to your Partner Account balance at the same time as a Stewardship gift.
