We are proud to have achieved the Planet Mark Business Certification, which reflects our commitment to reducing our impact on the planet.
This is an internationally recognised sustainability certification that acknowledges continuous progress, encourages action and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals.
Based on the understanding that we are all mandated to be good stewards of the world God lovingly created for us, we have always been committed to supporting the environment and have a dedicated CauseFinder™ cross for Creation Care for our partner charities working in this area. These include A Rocha International and A Rocha UK, Climate Stewards and Green Christian.
Becoming Planet Mark accredited is an important step in formalising our own commitment to caring for the environment and doing what we can to empower others in our community to do the same.
A three-step process
In order to achieve this sustainability certification, we followed a robust three-step process: measuring our impact, engaging everyone in the business and communicating our progress. We have measured our own carbon footprint - 34.3 tCO₂e or 0.4 tCO₂e per employee - and will continue to take responsibility for our carbon emissions to have a positive impact on both our planet and society. We are also contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals as part of our commitment to do more good and create a sustainable future.
Our target reduction going forwards is 5% or 1.7tCO2e. Now we have a solid baseline of data, we are equipped to explore how we can achieve this target and clearly measure progress year on year.
"As part of our commitment to Creation Care, we want to ensure that Stewardship is a force for good in all areas, positively transforming society and the planet by reducing any negative impact on the environment. It is why this year we are also sponsoring the Green Champion category in the Church Times Green Church Awards.
We look forward to continuing to develop a more strategic approach to environmental responsibility, working with Planet Mark to reduce our carbon emissions and to encouraging others in our community to follow suit." Felicity Griffiths, Chief Finance and Operating Officer, Stewardship
