The UN has estimated that more than 33 million people have been affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan. With the heaviest recorded rainfall in a decade, it’s reported that more than a third of the country has now been completely submerged. 1 million homes have been destroyed and food security has been badly affected - leaving 1 in 7 vulnerable and in desperate need.
Our registered churches and charities have teams working on the ground to assist, encourage and provide gospel hope for those affected, but they need your support.
If you would like to give financially, here are a selection of frontline charities to support:
YWAM have teams on the ground and are serving refugees and marginalised communities who are the victims of recent flooding.
‘They call us every day for help. They urgently need food, clothing, water purifiers, bedding, transport, shelter and cash donations for families. Prices rise everyday and they are now destitute’.
YWAM’s long term aim is to resettle these families so they can start their own businesses in a safer areas of the country. Please pray for these believers, they are in need of immediate and long term assistance.
Barnabas Fund are aiming to support 500 Christian families and 30 church pastors and their dependents:
- £2.50 could pay for a mosquito net for one family
- £20 could provide an emergency food package for a family to last 25-30 days
- £23 could pay for a 3-day course of medicine to deal with initial symptoms for 10 people
- £38 could pay for clean drinking water and water purification tablets for 50 families
Tearfund’s local partners – including the church in Pakistan - are providing food, shelter and safe drinking water. Your support will help the most vulnerable by providing for their immediate needs.
Concern is responding to the situation in Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab, offering cash assistance so that vulnerable families can buy food, dry rations, tarpaulins and makeshift tents. Those affected are also using it for essential medications and transportation where possible.
Great Commission Society
Great Commission Society and their partners across Pakistan are offering long-lasting food packages, clean water, and medical aid to people in the southern districts of Balochistan and Sindh. They are doing all they can to meet the needs of the nation at this time, while pointing them to the light and hope of Jesus Christ.
Please pray for the Great Commission Society team as they seek further ways of responding to this catastrophe.
