4Front Theatre: Putting Faith at the 4Front

From working in prisons to doing Christmas 'pantivities' (pantomime/nativity) for thousands of children and families, 4Front Theatre's work continues to have a huge impact in spreading the Gospel across the UK.

Since 2019, 4Front has reached over 65,000 primary school children in person through their productions sharing the good news of Jesus, and their YouTube channel, Virtual Sunday School, has over half a million views.

 

10 years and a big step of faith...

 

 

School performances

In recent years, the team has had a real focus on their work with primary school children, working with churches to help them reach their local community. For example, on Monday 4 December 2023, they reached almost 2,000 children in a single day thanks to two churches hosting performances and inviting the schools into the church. This model, where a church hosts a performance or two for their local schools, is really successful and allows the church to create an ongoing relationship with their local school, even after 4Front has left. It shows the children that church is a welcoming, friendly and fun place to be, and helps them make a positive link with Christianity. Several churches have said that 4Front has really helped open the door into their local school, which was previously been a closed door, and they have started an ongoing relationship thanks to hosting a show.

“The performance had a profound effect on some of the audience. One 8 year old saying that he ‘wanted to find out more about this Jesus bloke’. The next day he went into town and bought a new testament.” St Mary's Church, Kempsey.

As well as doing in-person performances, 4Front also has a host of resources including children’s worship songs, and videos through Virtual Sunday School. In 2024, 4Front is excited to take some time at the start of the year to work on these resources, alongside a pilot for a children’s TV show. They also hope to get back into prisons again, as well as touring their family friendly musicals later in the year.
