The latest leg of the Illuminate Tour was recently hosted in Rushden with around 300 young people making a decision to 'put Jesus in the driving seat of their lives'.

A hugely positive impact on the local community

Over the week the Illuminate team were given access to five local secondary schools and spoke to over 4,000 students. They were able to bring messages about well-being, never giving up, committing to supporting one another and living with purpose. Each leadership team remarked on the very positive impact the event had on their schools and academies.

At the end of the week, with the help of of supporters and volunteers, the team put on two incredible high-end gigs by converting the Park Road Baptist Church in Rushden into a temporary music venue. LZ7 and Saintz provided young people with a once-in-a-generation event in Rushden. The whole area has been positively impacted and some comments on social media included:

‘…it was brilliant my daughter and her friends loved it, well organised and great for the youngsters’.

‘…what a brilliant gig. My son had an amazing time. So well organised as well… This is the sort of thing the kids need’.

Many lives given to Jesus and discipleship

All the young people who chose to follow Jesus have been given access to the online Access All Areas (AAA) course, to help them with the first steps of faith. They have also been invited to a series of weekly events to help them grow their faith and build relationships. So far, 322 people have been through the online AAA sessions and 86 have booked tickets for the follow-up event in Bath.

The Illuminate team expressed their gratitude to God for all those who helped fund the event and partner with them in this gospel work.

How a Stewardship Donor Advised Fund (DAF) helped this event succeed

The success of this event is partly down to the financial funding from a Stewardship DAF. The DAF model of charitable giving helps connect generous givers, who sometimes want to remain anonymous, with Christian causes. In this instance the fund was able to gift money to the group of churches who were running the event, along with Illuminate, to help pay for various expenditure before and after the event.
