A number of our registered partners have started fundraisers to support those affected by Cyclone Freddy, which developed over the Indian Ocean more than a month ago. The Guardian reported last week that the death toll after the devastation of a second landfall has "exceeded 300 across Madagascar, Mozambique, and Malawi, with more than 700 people injured, 40 missing and 80,000 displaced."
Cyclone Freddy has been one of the longest-lived storms ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere. Before its arrival, Malawi was experiencing its deadliest cholera outbreak. In addition to power outages and inaccessibility to areas due to landslides, fears are that flood waters could reduce access to safe water and sanitation, further increasing the effects of the disease.
Please consider supporting these fundraisers with your Stewardship Giving Account or make a donation as a guest giver. Together, our help will make a difference.
