Hope Trust Oxford

Oxford is a city of contrasts. On the one hand, dreaming spires speak of centuries of learning, aspiration and achievement. On the other, with some parishes in the top 10% most deprived in the country, the modern reality is of many people in real need, struggling with debt and its associated problems.

In response to this, The Hope Trust Oxford was founded in 2020, and is focused on serving the disadvantaged in Oxford from a clear Christian motivation. We are closely affiliated with St Ebbes Church, Oxford and its network of congregations. We sponsor a Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre and are seeking funds to maintain our small but dedicated team, and to build our work (see below).

Our ministry depends on our people, especially our two CAP members of staff, ably supported by several volunteers. Putting the income of these vital members of staff on a more sustainable footing is a priority for us and if possible, to grow the team.

We are clear about our Christian basis and regularly invite everyone we serve to church, which several accept. As well as tailored support, we run weekly group Life Skill and Money courses, and a weekly community cafe. This is a vital hub for anyone in need to socialise, and receive informal advice and support.

Most of our income is from faithful individual supporters. It is always under pressure however and we barely break even each year. We would therefore welcome your partnership!
