Our vision is for Christians to remain and thrive in the Holy Land so they may build just and lasting pathways to peace in the land where Jesus walked, serving the common good of the entire region.
The Christian population in the Holy Land has drastically declined, from 30% a century ago to 2% in Israel and 1% in the West Bank and Jordan. We believe they act as witness for all of us, Christians from around the world. Importantly, as the third-largest employer, they play a vital role in society, contributing significantly to education, healthcare, social services, business and tourism. Without sustained support, this dwindling community may cease to exist at all.
For the last 15 years, Friends of the Holy Land has worked across the West Bank, Israel, Gaza and Jordan, directly supporting more than 2,500 people each year.
Endorsed by Church leaders in the UK and in the region, and registered as a charity in Palestine, we maintain a local team to ensure that assistance is delivered efficiently, responsibly and where it is needed most.
Our work focuses on three key areas:
Humanitarian support - Providing emergency aid, essential medication and addressing water and energy poverty
Development - Supporting small businesses, providing employment opportunities and helping families keep their children in education
Healing - Offering trauma counselling, health care assistance, specialised support for the elderly and children with special needs
At the very heart of what we do every day is to provide opportunity and hope. We are a community of Christians united in supporting our brothers and sisters in the birthplace of our faith.
