90% of vision loss is preventable or treatable. When sight is restored, lives are transformed. We are committed to eliminating reversible and preventable causes of blindness and visual impairment. We have been serving in Africa since 2005. We are currently serving the Republic of Congo through New Sight, an eye charity that we are humbled to have founded in 2012.
New Sight runs a non-profit eye centre in Ouesso, Congo. It provides services such as consultations, glasses, emergency care, medical and surgical treatment, along with free screening and community health education. We started the country's first facility to manufacture prescription glasses, as well as its first children's magazine with a readership of >20,000. We empower the local community through training programs and partnership with over 30 schools.
We began building an eye hospital on a 6-hectare area in 2022 and the eye block is expected to be completed by 2023.
