Sheffield Cathedral Schools Singing Programme
Transforming the lives of children through music and song
Closing date: 21 January 2026
Story
The gift of music is a wonderful thing with the social, emotional and personal wellbeing benefits of a musical childhood well known. But sadly too many children across this city are missing out on enjoying music and song.
Sheffield Cathedral’s Schools Singing Programme opens up a whole new world of opportunity, especially for children living is some of the city’s poorest areas. By taking part in regular, fun musical and singing activities they will:
- Raise their hopes and aspirations
- Make new friends
- Learn skills for life
- Open up young minds to new opportunities
- Develop the confidence to stand taller, to sing louder and to have the self-belief to overcome challenges in life.
The Schools Singing Programme will also add value to a child's education, but schools do not have the resources to give their pupils meaningful musical experiences. This is why this programme will make such a positive difference to children, who otherwise would not have the chance to enjoy music and singing.
