Who we support
We would always expect individuals applying for funding to generally demonstrate eligibility in one of the categories outlined below. Churches and organisations would need to have identified eligible individuals for the training posts they are seeking funds for.
- Low socio-economic or underprivileged background
- Black, Asian, Mixed or other ethnic minority background (intended to refer to all ethnic groups except White ethnic groups. It does not relate to country origin or affiliation)
- Background that is under-represented in UK churches
Training programme criteria:
- Training programmes that are in line with our Statement of Faith.
- Pastoral training with a particular focus on developing individuals’ character, competence and conviction for Bible ministry.
- Flexible ministry training pathways with content that is tailored to specific cultural contexts and needs.
- Programmes that involve mentorship and support and ensure church placements that build strong relationships with local churches who can provide ongoing support as individuals take up ministry roles.
Support provided
Through our partnership with Stewardship, the fund aims not only to support individuals with financial assistance but to also encourage a biblical view of gospel partnership and support-raising skills that will enable a long-term sustainable ministry.
All applications will be assessed and, if eligible for potential funding, will be considered at an Advisory Board Meeting. The Board usually meets three times a year, according to the following pattern:
