Emergency in Southern Africa

Southern Africa is experiencing its worst drought in 100 years. Six countries have declared a state of emergency, and the UN has called for action to avoid a full-scale humanitarian disaster in the region.

In Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, our school meals are bringing vital relief to families. The promise of Marys Meals means they know their children will eat at school and they can stretch the little food they have at home further.

Our meals bring hope. They encourage children into the classroom and give them energy to learn.

Mary's Meals is an international movement that sets up school feeding programmes in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from going to school. By providing a daily meal at school, chronically poor children are attracted to the classroom where they can gain a basic education that provides an escape route out of poverty.

Mary's Meals feeds more than 2.4 million children every single day, thanks to the support of its dedicated donors and volunteers.
