Spiritus Theological College

Spiritus Theological College (formerly SWMTC) offers part-time training that is Christ-centred, world-engaging, and rooted in local communities. Our students are lay and ordained individuals learning from one another in a spirit of generosity. We learn, we laugh, and we cry together as we come together, staff and students, to continue to discern the call of God in our lives. Although our foundation is in the Church of England, we welcome students from other traditions to join us in learning and worshipping together. We are grateful for all financial contributions, either large or small. We offer a range of courses for anyone interested in theology. Courses include the Bachelor of Arts in Theology, Ministry, and Mission, and our most recent Master of Arts in Theology, Ministry, and Mission. These degrees are validated and awarded by the University of Durham, which holds the fifth position in the UK's Complete University Guide 2026 and fifth in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025. Other courses delivered by Spiritus College include the Spiritual Direction course. For those looking to dip their toe into theology, we offer the online Brilliant Basics, which can be undertaken from anywhere in the world. It is broken down into 6 week modules, with each module examining a different topic, such as the Old Testament or the New Testament.
