& Training
Hi, I'm Jacob and I'll be doing Relay in Swansea, home of the best football team in Wales! I was saved as a child, when we read the crucifixion scene in the Bible as a family. God clearly showed me I was a sinner and needed a savior. God taught me to stop idolising sport as it never brought true joy. He was the one deserving of glory. Going to Aberystwyth University really grounded me in my faith, and the solid gospel teaching in Alfred Place reinforced this. What struck me in my time in Aberystwyth was God's power and how He promises to walk closely with us, particularly evident in our Christian Union mission week where souls were saved.
During my long student summer breaks I have helped on CCIW camps, leading as an officer, doing tent bible studies for the kids and some of the activities. I also did beach missions, working closely with a team of Christians to share the gospel on beaches by providing kids games and family fun nights for holiday goers and residents. Both showed me that I was excited to share the Word with others and enjoy unity with other Christians, which I want to continue as a part of Relay.
Now that my time in university has ended, I am excited to be doing Relay in Swansea. It will be a privilege to get alongside the students and disciple them, rejoicing in God's word together as a Christian Union so that we can go out together in evangelism, relying wholly on Him. I am also excited by the opportunity to learn more and study the Bible in more depth, as this is how God speaks to us and there is so much wisdom in it!
Initially, I was reluctant to do Relay because of the financial side of it. God has shown me that I must rely on Him in my weakness to guide me in the upcoming year. As Relay is a volunteer role, I will be relying on donations to contribute to living and ministry costs.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and whether you choose to give financially or prayerfully, it is much appreciated! Feel free to sign up for the prayer letter!
