St Martha's was originally built as a daughter church to St. Peter & St. Paul, the Parish Church in the centre of Tring. The Vestry and Chancel were built in the 1880s but the building was never completed as originally intended. The wooden structure - the Nave - was added around the 1920s and a porch added in the early 1960s. In 2018 an extension was added to the rear of the building to include a modern kitchen and all-access toilet.
St Martha’s is widely used by local community groups and in winter the hosts a ‘warm space’ for people to come, with newspapers, a free lunch and hot drinks. The local surgery hosts regular coffee mornings for carers groups. This is all in addition to regular services, weddings, funerals and baptisms
