Compassion for Communities (Charitable Incorporated Organisation No: 1169275), was founded in 2016, for the relief of poverty and improvement of life conditions for economically disadvantaged communities in Nottingham and Zimbabwe.
We promote sustainable development and economic empowerment of rural communities in Zimbabwe by supporting community gardens as a means towards economic empowerment and sustainable food security.

Our flagship project is Ekukhanyeni Nutrition Garden at Mkhombo Village in Lower Gweru, Midlands Province in Zimbabwe, which we have supported since 2017.

The 51-member garden now boasts a 10x50m Greenhouse, upgraded all-year round borehole water supply, toilet facilities and a drip irrigation system.

Twenty-two members have formed themselves into a Cooperative which manages the Greenhouse as a vehicle to transition from subsistence to commercial horticulture.

The Greenhouse is expected to increase the garden's productivity in a controlled environment free from pests, diseases and adverse weather conditions due to climate change.

If successful, the Cooperative Formation/Greenhouse installation initiative could be a sustainable model for rural economic development and climate change-proofed agriculture.

We are currently fundraising for a security fence to secure the assets and infrastructure at the garden.

Your donation will help to protect the community assets and extend the positive impact over many years to come.

Please give generously.
