& Friendship
Embracing Age is a Christian charity working towards a world where older people are valued, connected and full of hope.
We do this by befriending care home residents, supporting informal carers and equipping churches in their work amongst older people.
Research shows care home residents are twice as likely to feel severely lonely as older people living at home. As one resident said, "You can be alone in crowd, you really can".
Our volunteers spend time with residents doing enjoyable activities together. This could be simply chatting, or playing a game, going for a walk - the list is endless and depends what a resident might enjoy.
We would love to see every care home adopted by a local church. We can help with training and equipping in this, in dementia and others topics.
We also run twice weekly zoom gatherings for informal carers to chat and pray together.
