New Foundations connects prison leavers with someone who cares. Our volunteers help those on the margins of society to rebuild their lives.
We deliver 1-to-1 mentoring support to ex-prisoners in the Solent area by a trained volunteer for 6-9 months post release. Help us provide this vital support.
NFCC seeks to work in coordination with the prison leaver's Case Manager and recovery/social service professionals to enhance the prospect of successful rehabilitation and reduced recidivism. ‘Mentoring' takes in several dimensions: 1. initial practical support, 2. guidance (goal-setting, money management, etc.), 3. advocacy (with courts, Job Centre, housing, etc.), 4. signposting to specialised services (such as debt counselling and relevant courses), and 5. overall emotional support.
