The Parish of St James & St Christopher's is part of St Oysth's Deanary - churches working together to support Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre in Clacton. Our financial situation is currently short term, so we would welcome financial support to enable this provision to continue & to develop this work which helps to support people out of crippling debt. The need in our communities is high.
We will be running money management courses in Jaywick Aut '21, but increasing the awareness of the debt centre provision could overwhelm our existing service.
People in debt can feel isolated, ashamed or 'stuck'. The service respects the whole person. Poor finances are due to a range of problems - relationship breakdown, job loss or ill health. They maybe hounded by creditors and there is a significant link with poor mental health; more than a third feel suicidal. CAP’s service is completely free to the client and available for everyone. Thanks to those supporting this vital work.
