& Training
The Association of Breast Surgery's (ABS) aim is to advance the practice of breast surgery for the benefit of the public. It works with healthcare professionals, mainly in the UK and Ireland, treating patients with breast cancer and benign breast disease. Its charitable projects include:
Education and Training
ABS offers travelling fellowships for healthcare professionals wishing to gain experience in other countries, which will then inform their practice in the NHS.
Research
ABS offers research development grants to projects in the UK. It is hoped that these will enable larger studies into breast cancer and benign breast disease to be developed.
Support for low and middle income countries
ABS offers educational grants to breast surgeons in low and middle income countries wishing to attend its Conference or one of its educational courses as well as spending time in a UK breast unit. It is also developing a pilot breast disease course, which can be run by its members in LMI countries.
