St Helens street pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who have a heart for our local community.
Initially we will be out on the town centre streets of St Helens from 10.45 p.m. to 3.30 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th Friday nights of each month, to care for, listen to and help people who are out in the night time economy.
We are led by our local coordinator, with each team of volunteers eventually having it’s own team leader, and we also have support from local churches and community groups in partnership with the police, local council and other statutory and voluntary agencies.
We have information we can use to sign-post people to services that can help them in different situations and we are able to offer some low level practical support to help in the immediate situation, perhaps offering water, flip flops or a listening ear.
At the moment we have seven trained and commissioned volunteers and three more currently undergoing the application process.
