About Us

We're an award-winning charity supporting female survivors of abuse, exploitation, and displacement. We support women to build the confidence, knowledge and skills they need for a brighter future.

Our services include:

  1. Baking & Wellbeing Sessions - Women participate in baking and wellbeing lessons surrounded by a loving community, building confidence & learning new skills
  2. Befriending - Women can access 121 befriending, reducing isolation and building social connections
  3. Mentoring - Women can access group and 121 mentoring, building their confidence, knowledge and skills, equipping them for the world of volunteering or paid employment.

Our work provides up to 10 months of life-changing support for up to 90 women per year.

Why do we exist?

Globally, 1 in 3 women have experienced gender-based violence, including domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking, servitude, or honor-based violence.

These negative - and often traumatic - experiences have profound, long-term effects on survivors and those close to them. But this doesn't have to be the end of the story.

We've found a solution. Support with your mental health and wellbeing, belonging, purpose and agency can change the trajectory of a woman's life forever.

Our Impact

Change starts here. As a result of our charitable work:

  • 84% of women felt accepted or that they belonged to a community
  • 94% of women felt they had learned how to look after their mental wellbeing
  • 82% of women felt more motivated in life or that they had a better idea of their goals for the future
  • 100% of our graduates would recommend us to another woman in need.

"I feel the change from last year, I did not trust a person. I was afraid a lot and I did not have the courage to mix with people, until I came here. I learned many things like joy, optimism, self-confidence and love."

"This was therapy for my depression."

Success Stories

Sarah, a survivor of domestic abuse, was introduced to Bramber Bakehouse through her family support worker.

"I felt like a valued member of the team. There was space to just feel like you felt, whatever was going on. You were well supported by the other women and the BB team as well. We were all united as one despite any differences.

It was so much more than baking. The course was somewhere where the learning about self care I have done before came together. All the pieces came together towards the end of the course. It was like a lightbulb moment where I recognised the achievements Id made over the last few years and on the course."

Sarah has continued to benefit from our ongoing support, recently attending our CV workshop.
