Aspire Ryde took over an iconic Grade II disused building on the at-risk register and turned it into a thriving community hub, supplying free food and life-affirming activities in an area of high deprivation. Recycling items such as bikes & pallets helps to reduce poverty and improves both mental and physical health.
Weekly footfall is in excess of 2000, and the Social Impact Calculator estimates the value of what we provide at over £2 million. Numerous groups, such as Young At Heart (lunch club for the elderly), Men (and Women) In Sheds, Tea Dance, Aspire to Sew, Growing Great Things (gardening in the grounds of our building - especially designed for those living with mental health issues), Treasure Box (Toddler Group), plus several Craft and Fitness groups meet in Aspire providing activities that enrich participants’ lives. Volunteering opportunities give self-esteem and structure to those who might otherwise feel their life is empty. Our aim is to transform place & transform people.
