Bakiga Community Project works in partnership with local leaders and communities to improve their access to water by building and repairing springs and water tanks, across Kabale District in South Western Uganda.

Each spring serves a community of between 150 and 250 people and costs about £50 to construct. Tanks are filled by harvesting rainwater and save people from a long walks. A 50,000 litre tank costs £1000 to build. Bakiga Community Project is a registered charity (NGO) in Uganda and also a charity in the UK supporting the work and ensuring accountability. Bakiga Lodge was built to provide long term funding for the Bakiga Community Project and is situated in Ruhija, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda, home of the famous mountain gorillas It provides luxury tourist accommodation.
