Clean Sheet is a national, award-winning charity that exists to help people with criminal convictions find employment. We work with some of the most marginalised people in society giving hope that a solution can be found for the stigma and chronic underemployment faced, often when other help isnt available. This intervention reduces reoffending by equipping people to move forward positively, contributing to a safer society. We are a Christian charity, working with people of all faiths and none: our faith is the motivation for the work we do. We work with anyone with any type of conviction. We have a genuine hope for each persons future, and believe in their potential to succeed, regardless of their history.
Our Employment Team Advisers build a unique relationship with their Members (people with criminal convictions) through regular contact. Subjects such as putting together a CV or discussing a conviction with a potential employer, are focused on. Our Employers Directory lists over 100 companies willing to see the potential of our Members, beyond their conviction. We also work with training providers who provide skills and qualifications to help someone move towards the job market, broadening their possibilities. We provide pre-release workshops in some prisons and are looking to expand this service. Our 12-month integration support once employment is found has proved crucial for many.
In the 5 years from 2020 until the end of 2024 we:
- Received 1,812 referrals for our support
- Typically worked with 220-300 people at any one time
- Helped 783 people to secure work
- Helped 224 people commence training.
In 2024, 22 Members attended our interview skills sessions, in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Also, 107 people attended workshops in prison on how to disclose well (discuss a conviction with a potential employer).
