Our vision (the dream) is the fulfilment, wellbeing and transformation of Blackburn. Our mission is to develop The Exchange as a vibrant and diverse venue for events and to deliver activities which inspire hope, creativity and excellence. These will be in our 4 themes: Arts, Culture and Heritage; Community and Cohesion; Health and Wellbeing:
Learning and Enterprise.
Originally the Cotton Exchange, The Exchange is a breathtaking and beautiful Grade 2 listed Victorian Gothic building. Although we need £8 million for a full restoration, we have made the space safe by carrying out repair works costing £150,000. We can now accommodate up to 620 people at a time upstairs.
We have hosted events for the National Festival of Making, the Textile Biennial, Blackburn Museum, Heritage Open Days, events for churches and two Youth Concerts.
The charity “Re:Source Blackburn” was created by Re:Ignite Church to buy the building for the town. Re:Ignite continue to fund all the running costs of the building.
