The Jericho Road Project is a Christian charity which aims to bring hope and restoration to those affected by the sex industry in Nottinghamshire. The project was established in 2000 and since then we have supported over 650 different women. We run a number of activities (including, Drop-in, Befriending, Street Outreach, Prison Visiting and Resettlement, and Individual Support), providing crisis support when needed, giving food and clothing and offering emotional and spiritual support.

Supporting our work allows these vital services to continue, ensuring that the women we support can live a fruitful life away from the sex industry, drug use and/or homelessness.

Street Outreach is one of our main points of contact with women impacted by the sex industry. Up to 3 times per week, our volunteer and staff teams go out in our van, driving around the Red Light District, serving hot chocolate, flapjacks, cobs and snacks to women that they see on the street. We talk to them and invite them to one of our many services to support them (e.g. Drop-in at base, individual support and appointments to help with housing, clothes, or work)

Drop-in is a service we provide in our building to meet with women in a more informal, relaxed setting where they can come along for craft, movies, and friendship. On Wednesdays, after drop-in, we also hold a mini church service with all the staff and service users where we read the Bible, sing worship songs, and pray together.

We hold several services in Prison, including resettlement appointments, Bible studies, and an arts therapy course called Create: New Beginnings. Our staff and volunteer teams go into prison up to three times per week to meet with women, engage them in friendship, support them emotionally, point them to Jesus, and help make plans for their release. We also offer to pick women up from prison to better support them and take them to appointments.

As part of our journey with women impacted by the sex industry, we also walk alongside them through Befriending. This is a service that supports women that have left the sex industry, or who are now further away if they were at risk. We meet up for coffee, go for walks, visit their homes, and offer holistic support to help them move on.
