Torch Help Hub

Torch Help Hub (Torch) is a charity of last resort. We are an affiliation of churches working together in an effective and practical way to provide a helping hand to those who otherwise cannot get help and tend to fall through the gaps in existing provision.

All volunteers come from our network of churches enabling us to respond to 10-12 referrals a week so that we can help 350+ individuals/families a year, being there for the last, the lost, the least, the lonely, the left behind...the very people Jesus helped.

This work facilitates local partnership and promotes church unity to deliver our strapline: “A helping hand from local churches”.

We are inspired by our Lord Jesus Christ to fulfill his instructions to "love your neighbour as yourself" (Mark 12v33) and to "Go and do likewise" (Luke 10v37).

In doing so our client focus is guided by the words from Ezekiel 22v30:

"I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land"

Recently we have added a Neighbourhood Parish Nursing Service with a nurse working alongside the practical work of Torch. It is not uncommon to receive a referral for practical help, say to put up a curtain rail, that might lead to a visit from the nurse that results in a health advocacy for the client, as as well as personal prayer. We are looking to grow this service.
