& Friendship
The Mustard Tree's simple aim is to be a voice for the unheard in local communities across Reading and the surrounding area. We do this by identifying, incubating and resourcing local faith-based social action projects that address unmet or overlooked needs, and championing change in strategic contexts. We currently have four projects:
The Rahab Project - Offering support and advocacy to those involved in sex working.
Engage Befriending - Reconnecting isolated older people with their community through regular visits from a befriender.
Starting Point – Helping NEET young adults to access opportunities through mentoring and work experience.
We have been supporting our community for over 13 years, acting as a hub for 10 different projects, which cumulatively have impacted the lives of over 2,000 people and mobilised over 250 local volunteers.
