Church
& Friendship
St. Stephen's is an inclusive Anglican church located in the heart of Lansdown on the northern slopes of Bath, UK which has been welcoming worshippers and the community since 1840. Due to its elevated and floodlit city skyline profile, St. Stephen's is known as the beacon of Lansdown. Our core values are Generosity, Hospitality and Inclusion - three marks of the nature of God's love and welcome for each person, and through which God, Creator, Son & Holy Spirit enables us to live this wonderful gift of life to the full. We are part of a United Benefice with St Mary's, Charlcombe, the oldest church in Bath. Here is a gathered community of all kinds of traditions and beliefs, and all ages, with a passion to live God's peaceable Kingdom.
As a charity (which receives no state or central church funding) we rely on the generous giving of our church family and wider support network to fund the daily work that is carried out in our community and beyond: from our regular services (whether virtual or physical) to the active involvement in our local schools, or the varied groups that use our church building as their base. We are grateful to God for his generous and unstinting love, and our giving of all resources is an expression of our thanks and the value we place on God's presence in our community in all its joys, celebrations, needs and pain.
We look forward to welcoming you to St. Stephen's - may the deep, kind and liberating peace of God be known in your heart and home.
