The St George Foundation exists to rescue, rehabilitate and reunify children who are living on the streets of Freetown, Sierra Leone. The foundation was set up as a small feeding programme by our founder, Philip Dean, after visiting Sierra Leone in 2004. We became a registered charity in 2006 and have to date, July 2011, rescued 800 children. The children are initially taken to our centre where they receive counselling and support and are nutured back to good health before being placed in local schools. After one year with us the children are reunified with relatives who have been traced. The children continue to receive our support through regular visits by our social workers and the payment of school fees in their new schools. Our work has the support of the president and his wife and we work regularly with other NGO's such as UNICEF. Thank you for your interest in our work.Find a fundraiser
