What are the Partner Account eligibility criteria for a Christian Workers and Bible College Students?

When you receive funds from Stewardship you are receiving charitable grants to fulfil our charity objectives of advancing evangelical Christianity, relieving poverty or distress, advancing education or otherwise promoting charitable work. As any funds you receive are charitable funds and may include Gift Aid, Stewardship has a responsibility as a UK charity to ensure you are eligible to receive such payments.

Christian Workers

To apply as a Christian Worker you must fulfil the following criteria. Eligibility and the level of funding you can receive can only be confirmed upon assessment of your completed application form:

  • Your role is in Christian ministry
  • Your role is 21 hours per week or more
  • Your role is for at least six months
  • You are accountable for your work to the organisation you work for or, if independent, to a Support Group.
  • You are either:

    • A non-UK national working and living in the UK
    • A non-UK national living overseas, accountable to a UK organisation for your role

Please note: Funds received as a Christian Worker can ONLY be used for your personal living costs and any personal ministry expenses we approve.

Can I apply if I have a salary?

As long as you fulfil the criteria above, you can still apply if you have a salary. If you apply to receive more than £1,500 pa from us, we ask for details of your income, including any salary, in the application form to assess whether this would be deemed sufficient by our regulators or whether you would be eligible to receive additional charitable funds and at what level.

Can we apply as a couple?

A Partner Account is always in the name of one individual. However you can add your spouse as an additional user. If you are a married couple working for the same organisation, you will need to work at least 21 hours a week between you to be eligible.  If you work in different organisations, the person applying for the account must fulfil the account eligibility criteria. We take into account your marital status when calculating the level of charitable funds you can receive from us.

Bible College Students

To apply as a Bible College Student you must be in full-time study for at least one year at a recognised UK Bible College and clear that charitable public benefit will ultimately arise from your studies. See here for approved colleges. If your college is not yet approved, please contact us. We regret that we cannot support those studying outside the UK. For Stewardship’s purposes, we regret that it will not be sufficient for your study to be purely an academic exercise, resulting only in you gaining an additional qualification.

Eligibility and the level of funding you may receive can only be confirmed upon assessment of your completed application form.
Funds received as a Bible College Student can ONLY be used for your personal living costs and any tuition or accommodation fees you pay for which aren’t reimbursed to you.
