Gateway International Cafe

Story

Every term-time Tuesday, the international café will offer English conversation classes over coffee and cake. We aim to welcome refugees, migrants and asylum seekers and help them settle, make friends and learn English. Our last international café worked with West Norfolk residents from Brazil, China, Portugal, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. We’re expecting to welcome Ukrainian refugees too.

The project will start with the informal international café and we will hope to implement more formal English classes later in the year.

The project is staffed by a qualified TEFL teacher and volunteers who will help with befriending and hospitality.
