Improving Accessibility at Heatree

Story

Heatree is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive centre for everyone. While we have made improvements over the years, we know there is still more to do to ensure our facilities are accessible for all. Our main house is almost 200 years old and presents challenges due to its varying levels, entrances, doorways and corridors.

An accessibility audit and guest feedback have highlighted the need for a thoughtful, site-wide approach to improving access. With your support, we can improve physical access, wayfinding, accessible facilities, specialist equipment and resources that help guests with additional needs enjoy everything Heatree has to offer.

Thanks to our supporters, we have already purchased rubber threshold ramps and an all-terrain wheelchair, helping disabled guests explore and experience Dartmoor with greater independence.
