This year, our Chaplaincy team have provided 3,157 volunteer hours of chaplaincy support, providing 477 sessions of group work and helping 436 unique individuals navigate life in the context of complex needs, additions and relationship breakdown.

Recognising that people want to be understood, valued and to know that their lives have meaning is a key part of the spiritual care provided by the YMCA Chaplains. When people experience homelessness it comes with a whole string of broken connections, which impacts on their sense of self and purpose.
YMCA Chaplains have time to listen for as long, and for as many times as a person needs. It comes alongside counselling and other support, just to hear how that person is today and what matters to them. Building relationships of trust simply by being present is foundational to quality spiritual care.
