New Scots Christmas Appeal 2021
Providing a warm welcome for refugees and asylum seekers in Edinburgh this Christmas
Closing date: 31 January 2022
Story
For the 5th year running we are inviting churches to join our New Scots Christmas Appeal, a chance to welcome and care for the stranger in our city.
We aim to gift Christmas hampers to 230 refugee families. Extra donations will go towards social activities and practical support for New Scots.
Donation uses:
To gift Christmas hampers to 230 refugee families; to support social activities and events linked with churches such as the Salaam Weekend Club; and to provide practical support and essential items for New Scots (i.e. bus passes, household goods, etc)
Receiving a gift at Christmas makes people feel cared for and loved. Hampers contain food items and goodies. Alongside donating money, your church can help deliver hampers in your area, giving you the chance to connect with local refugee families and build friendships.
The Appeal is in partnership with Central Church, the Church of Scotland, St Mungos Episcopal Church, and Mustard Seed
