40acts is an 8-times award-winning generosity challenge for Lent.
40acts became a movement of over 100,000 people on a mission to impact their communities by creating moments of radical generosity. It took a break, but now it’s back and this time we're partnering with Gospel Entrepreneurs, The Way UK and many others. Over the 40 days of Lent in 2025 (Wednesday 5 March to Saturday 19 April), subscribers will receive a daily email from different contributors that contains a reflection, prayer and challenges designed to inspire and invite people to spread the love of Jesus through intentional acts of generosity.
As part of the launch, a 20-minute Great Big Live Assembly is being streamed by the Sanctuary Foundation to UK primary schools to encourage pupils to take up the 40acts challenge. The assembly is complemented by a downloadable resource pack containing a 40acts wall chart and teacher information.
Church resources will include two all-age service plans created by Roots for Churches and The Evangelical Alliance, as well as a small group study resource from The Big Church Read based on ‘Generous with a Capital G’ by Wendy Pawsey. The Way UK is creating six film-based youth group sessions.
“40acts was much-loved because it brought so much joy to so many. It flips the traditional Lent mindset of giving stuff up to one of giving stuff away and that stuff includes your time, talent and resources, not just your money. It might be as simple as a chat with someone who’s lonely or taking a meal to a neighbour in need. We are therefore delighted that 40acts is back, bigger and better than ever thanks to the valuable support of our partners Gospel Entrepreneurs and The Way UK, as well as the input of our many contributors. Jesus said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ - our prayer is that many will know the joy of that blessing this Lent, thanks to 40acts.” Janie Oliver, CEO, Stewardship

“Living generously will always provoke questions from those around you so ‘Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have 1 Peter 3:15’ (NIV). 40acts is an amazing tool that can be used to provoke those conversations. My dream for 40acts is that this initiative won’t be something to take on just during Lent but become a way of life that will embrace living generously: acts of kindness and caring that will transform our lives and the lives of those we connect with. The impact could be phenomenal!
I’m thrilled to be partnering through Revelation Trust - Gospel Entrepreneurs with Stewardship, and The Way UK on this exciting journey!” Roy Crowne, Founder, Revelation Trust - Gospel Entrepreneurs
“We are so exited to be a part of 40 Acts this year! Over Lent we’re going to be creating some fun and challenging social media content all around generosity! Check out our social media daily @thewayuk to watch the team take on the 40 Acts challenges! We’ve also created a youth resource series all around Generosity." Michael Yelland-Brown, Director, The Way UK
“I’m so excited about the 40acts challenge. Often at Lent we think about what we’re giving up. Wouldn’t it be great if we could think about what we’re giving back? We’ve received so much mercy and grace and love from God and Lent is a great time to be thinking about that but also thinking about how we can pour that grace and love into the lives of other people. I hope you’ll have fun, excitement and challenge in getting involved in 40acts this year.” Krish Kandiah, Director, Sanctuary Foundation
