How do I resize my photo to be less than 3MB?

If you don't have access to photo editing tools to resize your photos to meet the image upload requirements for your profile page, you don't need to worry.

Squoosh is a great free, third-party tool that can both resize the physical dimensions of your photo, and compress the file size to be compatible with the 3MB file limit.

To compress using Squoosh:

  1. Upload your image
  2. Check the file size shown in the bottom right dialogue box is below 3MB
    • If it is displaying a number with kB, this has been compressed sufficiently
    • Drag the quality slider to 60 if it is still too large
    • If the file size shown is still above 3MB, you will need to both resize and compress your image
  3. Press the download icon in the bottom right

To resize and compress using Squoosh:

  1. Upload your image
  2. Toggle on the Resize option on the right-hand side
  3. Choose a width that is above 1180 to ensure the resolution is high enough for our profile pages
  4. Check the file size shown in the bottom right dialogue box is below 3MB
    • If it is displaying a number with kB, this has been compressed sufficiently
    • Drag the quality slider to something smaller if it is still too large
  5. Press the download icon in the bottom right
