We're at a critical moment in history with regards to the environment, and as stewards of God’s world, we need to work to reduce the climate crisis and protect people and planet. How can we live in a way that respects the beauty of God's creation and, crucially, preserves the world's resources for future generations? We have to act now, before we reach a tipping point that’s too difficult to come back from. Our individual actions, lifestyle choices, lobbying organisations and advocating to political leaders will be powerful tools to bring meaningful change.

Six environment charities to support

If you're looking to support Christian charities that work to help the environment and respond to climate change issues, here are six charitable organisations who work specifically in this area. You can also search our Creation Care Cause Cross page where we go a bit more into depth about the valuable work that is happening within the church.

A Rocha work to protect and restore the natural world and equip Christians around the world in how to care for the environment. They do this as a response to the biblical mandate to look after the earth and demonstrate God’s hope to the world. They carry out conservation research, education programmes and work in partnership with many other environment organisations across the world.

Just Money Movement

Just Money Movement aims to be the go-to organisation for Christians and churches who want to connect faith, money and justice. They educate, campaign and advocate, resourcing a movement of Christians and churches to act differently with our own money and speak out about money. They believe such a movement can lead to changes in the way businesses and banks behave, in the policies set by government, and in people’s attitudes, all of which can help shape a fairer, greener world.

Catherine Durant

Catherine wrote and edited for Stewardship for 8 years. Before that, she worked in marketing for a theatre, spent time in mission focused on anti-trafficking in Asia and studied History of Art and English Literature at university.

Her interests are in anything arty – whether it’s visiting galleries, taking photos, going to concerts, or challenging herself to pick up a pencil and draw. She loves nothing more than an in-depth conversation with a friend, especially if there’s a cheese board involved.

She is passionate about the transformative power of the Bible and enjoys helping people dig into God’s Word. Catherine also cares deeply about issues of inequality and justice, particularly around the mistreatment of women.
