In 2021, I felt called to start Incoming Ministries – a movement to bring together 18- to 30-year-olds from different denominations to worship Jesus.
From the start, gatherings grew as young adults met to share meals, pray and encounter God’s presence together. But as the ministry expanded, so did the costs.
We prayed and asked God to provide, trusting that He would meet every need. He did – sometimes in extraordinary ways. Once, we even saw pasties multiplied, reminding us of the feeding of the 5,000!
Another time, we faced an unexpected bill for £399.98. Two weeks into the month we began to pray, knowing we were exactly £399.98 short! One morning, I walked into the kitchen to find £200 in cash scattered on the floor – someone had posted it through our letterbox. Five days later, it happened again.
When I shared this story with a friend, he smiled and admitted that he had been the one to give the first £200. But then he looked confused. “I only did it once,” he said. Days later, we were laughing about it when his housemate burst into the room. “I couldn’t keep it in,” he said. “I also put £200 through your letterbox!”
God had spoken to them both individually on the same day – and neither had known about the other’s gift.
Moments like these have shaped our trust in God’s provision. He doesn’t always show us the full plan, but He always proves faithful.
Incoming Ministries continues to grow as a regional network of 18- to 30-year-olds with a shared vision to see a generation encounter Jesus and be sent out in local mission. When we step forward in faith, even when the numbers don’t add up, we find that God’s generosity never runs out.

Reflect
‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.’
1 Timothy 6:17-18
Pray
Pray for chances to offer your time where it is most needed.
Ask God for humility to serve without seeking praise.
Thank Him for the life that is truly life found in generous deeds.
Act
A generosity challenge for you to complete today:
Offer your time today to help someone with something they might not ask for, like babysitting, gardening, DIY or life admin. Generosity isn’t always what you give, it’s what you show up for. |
