Gratitude transforms hearts and relationships. When we thank others – through words or actions – we reflect the goodness of God’s provision. As you go about today, ask yourself: who could you thank? Cultivate an attitude of gratitude, giving thanks in all circumstances and becoming people of deep, genuine thanksgiving.
Saying thank you is a really interesting idea. When we are bringing our children up and they are given a gift, we encourage them to say thank you. As we look at thankfulness today, I was drawn to look at gratitude and thankfulness.
Everything we do flows out of that relationship with God. As we read in this verse, whatever you do in word or deed, in the name of the Lord “GIVE THANKS”. The attitude of gratitude will impact your personal wellbeing, your physical wellbeing and your emotional wellbeing.
This idea can be found all over Scripture and it is key to who we are. God has put in it in place and reminds us in the Psalms to “give thanks for the Lord is good” and “his love endures forever”.
As we start our day, let’s recognise the attitude of gratitude, so whoever you meet today, think, “how can I find those ways of saying ‘Thank you’?”
Think of someone whom you haven’t been in touch with for a while. Use your words and actions to thank that person.
Maybe someone goes out of their way to do something for you today. Give thanks!
The impact of gratitude and thankfulness transforms relationships, so saying thank you, and meaning it, has a profound effect.
When we give thanks to God, we often say it in response to God's provision, but when we say thanks to God for all that he has given to us, our words and actions mean that we will become thankful people.
Someone once went out of their way to do something for me in a very profound way. They didn’t have to, and thank you didn’t seem enough, but the depth of gratitude I felt was profound. Today let's be a generous giver of thankfulness, because of what He has given to us.
Let's give thanks in all circumstances. Let’s thank God for those he has put in our lives and ask Him to give us new opportunities to show gratitude today, as this attitude is key to fulfilment.
