Harvest is a time in the year where we reflect on God’s goodness to us and his provision for our needs, giving thanks to him. It’s also a time where we can be his hands and feet – not storing up barns for ourselves, but looking to those who are in need of what we can share.
Here are a few charities running Harvest appeals that you may be interested in giving to:
Turning Tides
This charity’s mission is to end homelessness in their local area of West Sussex. They are looking for ‘harvest heroes’ to help feed and house people who are struggling due to job loss, bereavement and poor mental health – many as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Birmingham City Mission
BCM are collecting physical donations of food and toiletries as well as monetary donations this harvest. At the moment the charity is well stocked with pasta and sanitary products but is running low on all other supplies so they are looking for donations to help their work with the elderly, homeless and those in need.

Transform Europe Network
TEN has been working with partners in Eastern Europe and the Balkans for three decades with their initiative, Harvest for the Hungry. This year they are hoping to continue their support of orphans and widows, the destitute and families of the terminally-ill, through the generosity of churches and individual Christians in the UK.

Barnabus
Barnabus has been working with the homeless in Manchester for over 25 years. The charity is running an Urban harvest appeal in preparation for the autumn and winter period which can be life threatening for those living rough. Their Support Centre provides a warm and safe space and their teams work to improve people’s circumstances through employment and accommodation for the future.
Charles Thompson’s Mission
This charity has a drop-in centre in the Wirral that provides free services for those in poverty – from food parcels and clothes to furniture and household goods, as well as advice and access to medical services. They are asking people in the local area to add extra items to their trolleys (listed here).
