2 new resources to help you grow a generous church

Stewardship has created two FREE sermon resources for Advent and Lent to help church leaders prepare for these two big events in the church calendar.

Advent Wonder:

The first of the two free resources is appropriately all about gifts. The Advent Wonder sermon series starts from the basis that Jesus the Son is the ultimate gift, and God the Father is the ultimate giver. The Advent story is full of gifts: some are surprising, some are timely, some are overwhelming, but all speak of God’s generosity. Grounded in sound Biblical theology, each sermon provides in-depth analysis, stories, quotes and flexible layouts. Each of the four sermon outlines includes additional ideas such as poems, prayers, suggested hymns and songs and suitable video clips for all age worship.

40acts for Lent - the church resource for 2016:

The second sermon series for Lent is called Jesus at our Table. This brand new, seven-week resource is designed to complement our award-winning 40acts campaign. We’re making this available early to church leaders to help with planning ahead for 2016.

Sitting at a table to eat in Jesus’ time was not just a sign of possible friendship, but of acceptance into a totally new, forgiven, restored relationship. Today, sharing food still signifies the same underlying principle: generosity in relationships. The theme of each sermon has been designed to work with the 40acts challenges that happen Monday to Saturday: each act will reflect and will be the practical application of the teaching in each sermon. Each sermon outline looks at a different ‘meal time’ with Jesus, the people he chose to eat with, the food eaten, the conversations had and the actions that followed. Each sermon is based on sound Biblical principles that underpin the Easter message and there are plenty of additional resources to help you plan a whole service.

Here are some quotes from church leaders who used the resources last year:

“Helpful and inspiring”

“It was very well thought through, giving a great alternative take on the familiar stories.”
