MoU agreement

Today, Stewardship were invited to sign a new ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ (MoU) that will improve communication between the government, Payroll Giving agencies and charities.

The agreement was signed by Priti Patel MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury together with representatives from the UK’s leading Payroll Giving agencies. It sets out for the first time a shared way of working that will increase transparency and clarity.

It is hoped the MoU will raise Payroll Giving’s performance and profile, and enable charities to improve their Payroll Giving programmes.

Kevin Russell, Technical Director at Stewardship, said:

“Stewardship is committed to making Payroll Giving more transparent and efficient for donors, charities and employers alike.

We welcome this opportunity to work with other agencies to agree a common standard for gathering and sharing information about donations made using Payroll Giving.

Our hope is that this added transparency will increase confidence in this important service so that more donations, from more people, will reach good causes.”

Payroll Giving allows UK tax payers to donate to charities tax effectively, directly from their pay.

With Stewardship’s Payroll Giving account you can amend, manage and keep track of your giving online at any time. You can also choose to manage your giving anonymously. For more information, visit www.stewardship.org.uk/pg or email our team at [email protected].
