our people

We are all committed Christians who seek to understand, not just what you want, but why you want it. At our site in Loughton, Essex, we work hard to ensure there is a good team spirit.

The management team consists of:

David Jones
David joined Stewardship in 1991, after working as a lawyer in general practice. In 2000 he became Chief Executive, and has helped to steer us through a series of mergers to become, in income terms, one of the largest Christian charities in the UK, and strategically placed to support and equip churches and charities in legal and financial administration.

David sums up his role as helping to build a highly capable organisation, which is developing a strong, trusted brand, stewarding financial and knowledge resources to further the Kingdom.

He is married to Julia, and they have three children who are moving into adulthood and, he says, help diminish the onset of over-seriousness.

Kevin Russell
Kevin is the Technical & Professional Services Director at Stewardship.

He is a chartered accountant, having trained with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and is a leading authority on charity tax and finance in the Christian sector. He speaks both at Christian conferences and at courses run by several professional bodies. Kevin is a key liaison with Government and regulators speaking on behalf of the Christian sector.

He is currently involved in establishing a new church alongside a new Academy school in Enfield, North London.

Simon Prince
Simon Prince is Sovereign Accounts and Human Resources Director.

The 14-strong team for whom he is responsible facilitate the giving of more than 28,000 individuals to a wide range of charitable purposes.

Simon is a leader in an East London church located in an area of considerable ethnic and religious diversity.

Steve Pierce

Steve is the Head of Stewardship Money, the education ministry within the organisation.

Ordained as an Anglican minister he spent 11 years serving in the Anfield and Everton districts of Liverpool before moving to the Resources office for the diocese, helping churches with giving and capital fund raising.

Steve’s team run campaigns such as www.red2black.org.uk and produce materials for use by churches and the 200 Stewardship Money volunteers that champion good stewardship in churches around the country.

Anthony McKernan
Anthony is Head of Marketing at Stewardship and editor of Share magazine, distributed freely to nearly 30,000 account members and clients three times a year.

Anthony’s first career was in social research before joining Stewardship in the year 2000.

He retrained in marketing and served 6 years in the organisation before an 18 month spell with a growing social enterprise. He was appointed Head of Marketing in September 2007.

Anthony is part of the senior leadership team in an east London church, where he is sometimes fondly referred to as ‘minister without portfolio’.

Stephen Mathews
