Twee Wise Men

"Then they opened their treasures

and presented him with gifts of

gold, frankincense and myrrh”

Over two thousand years ago a group of wise men followed a star that led them to a house where the baby Jesus lay. When they found him they bowed down in worship and offered valuable gifts.

This advent we would like to invite you to follow in their footsteps and join us as we celebrate the giving of God’s greatest gift to all mankind.

Starting 1st December, and running daily right up until Christmas Eve, we will be offering you the chance to win a gift for your favourite charity.  Each day a new challenge will be revealed that will test your powers of creativity, ingenuity, speed and dexterity – with gifts of between £50 and £150 up for grabs.

How do you join in the fun?

Details of each challenge will be 'tweeted' by the Twee Wise Men each day and posted on our special Twee Wise Men advent blog. Here, you will also be able to see the winning entries and find out how the chosen charities spread Christmas joy all year round.  If you're not on Twitter you can also follow the challenges on our Facebook page.

A couple of weeks ago we were sent a link to an article about a Porsche Advent Calendar, specially prepared for 2010 at a cost of $1milllion each.

It prompted quite a reaction in the Stewardship office; was this really what advent had boiled down to in the two millennia since the birth of Christ? The excess of Porsche is the poor neighbour to the lavishness of God’s nativity gift to the world.

So, our response? Well we threw a few ideas around and came up with an advent calendar of our own; something less about receiving and more about giving.

We’d love you to join us on this little adventure.

We have over 17,000 registered recipients covering a wide range of causes. From charities that are household names to individuals needing support for their Christian work spreading the Christmas story.

If they are registered with us already, we can make the gift straight away.  If not, give us the details and we can check their eligibility.

Or, if you can't decide just yet, we'll open a giving account in your name and you can request how it is distributed at a later date!

Coming 2nd December
